Apple wants to own you (especially when you’re a developer …)

Great read: http://www.slate.com/id/2250993/

If Microsoft ever wanted to do something like this … what would happen do you think? How is it Apple can?

Well, Hello.
And who says, Microsoft is not doing it?. Let me clarify.
You pay for a PC, you pay for the OS (Windows) that runs on these PC's, and these OS are 3 or 4 various types.
Then you get a job, and work on Microsoft systems.

And then, you have to pay again, for a MSDN subscription, that costs over EUR 1200, so that you can work and develop on systems, that you have paid for already, in the first place.
So you understand how Microsoft is also sucking the money out of you.

I'm also a subscriber to APPLE DEVELOPER network. And how much am I paying for it?
EUR 99 / year. And I develop on a system, or my iPhone device, that I've already purchase.

So, give it a thought. I'm a software developer myself in BizTalk, and my comment here is absolutely unbiased, and I'm NOT a Apple Fanboy!.

Cool!

You're right when it comes to MS sucking money out of you, they are a company and of course they want to make money, just like any other company.

The thing is that Apple want to control all applications that run on their device, and not just for security, but also to levvy money from people who built applications on top of their devices, because you have to go through their store...

Keep it coming!

Microsoft HAS done this, and locked it down even tighter: XBOX and XBOX 360.
